Vacature: Internship – Systematic Review Broken Homes and Crime

Tasks
During the internship, you will assist PhD student Janique Kroese in carrying out a systematic review about the effects of being raised in a single parent family on delinquent or criminal behavior. The tasks will consist of conducting searches in literature databases, and reading and (based on precisely defined criteria) systematically assessing (abstracts of) scientific empirical articles.

Requirements
You are a master student, preferably a research master student, in criminology, sociology, or psychology and you are available for a period of 8 weeks full-time (part-time for a longer period is also negotiable). A good passive command of the English language is a requirement.

When and where
The internship will start in January 2018 and takes place at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (www.nscr.nl), an institute affiliated with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam where approximately 40 people are employed who are engaged in scientific research about criminal behavior and law enforcement. The NSCR is located at the ground floor of the Initium building (Faculty of Law). Important to note is that you are obligated to show a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag) to be able to work at the NSCR (the NSCR will help with the application and will pay for the costs).

Compensation
A compensation of over 200 euros per month on a full-time basis is available.

Application and information
In case you are interested in this internship, please send a short motivation letter (approximately ½ A4) and a complete list of grades (including all finalized bachelor and master courses) as soon as possible to Janique Kroese ([email protected]). It is of course also possible to contact Janique first for more information.
